The COVID-19 pandemic has been a ravaging cankerworm that has eaten deep into every sector of the human endeavour, particularly the educational sector. This period has been quite challenging for students, parents, and teachers to adjust to the new normal.
Part of Brace-Up The Young’s mandate is to educate the young generation, which led us to embark on a project tagged ‘Back2school’ to assist students with needed school materials such as pen, books, erasers, sharpeners and textbooks. In December 2020, a call for donation was made. We received $105 in cash donations (used to acquire notebooks), pens, cleaners, sharpeners, colours, over 200 pencils and 157 textbooks from Street2School and well-meaning Nigerians.
In January 2021, Textbooks, Notebooks, Pens, Cleaners, Color pencils and pencils were donated to 199 children in Ota, Ogun State and Orile Iganmu, Lagos State, who couldn’t afford writing materials.
Brace-up The Young reached out to 93 students in three (3) secondary schools (Floridan Model School, Lè- Companion School and Peaceful Royal Academy) in Ota, Ogun State and also visited Anglican Church of the Good Shepherd School, Orile Iganmu, Lagos State where textbooks, notebooks, pen, pencils, erasers, colour pencils and sharpeners were donated to 106 students in Nursery, basic 1-6, J.S.S. 1&2.
Brace-up The Young is not resting on its oars but aims to reach as many students as possible in more states as it can.
We believe so much in the power of education and that every child can learn.
Thank you to all our partners, donors and sponsors.
