Brace Up The Young Donates Learning Materials to 99 Children in three Low cost private schools through its Back2school project
Access to quality education is paramount to any country’s development. When young people in low-income communities are educated, our country is on its path to greatness. To ensure every child in low-income communities access quality education irrespective of their socio-economic background, Brace-Up The Young (BTY) donates learning materials to 99 children in three low-cost private schools (Peaceful Star Royal Academy, Ota, Ogun State, Hope For The Slum Floating School, Makoko and Children of Attraction, Ebute Meta, Lagos State. It was both an exciting and emotional moment watching the students grateful for the learning materials.
September 2021 marked the beginning of a new session after the long August break in most schools in South-Western Nigeria. Most children in low-income communities resume school with one, two or no books nor writing materials. We decided to end this by ensuring every child have complete learning materials by putting together a team of 17 young volunteers who fundraiser for finance and resources from 1st -31st August 2021, raising #117,500 ($ 286) in cash (used to acquire drawstring bags, pens and notebooks), 25 student cups, 20 leadership books, 12 bags, 5 phonics kits and over 150 pencils. Our learning pack contained a bag, books, pen and pencil. Individual donors and organisations generously donated finance and materials for the project, organisations that contributed include; ErrandBoy Nigeria Enterprises, The Jewel Empowerment Foundation, Eco-Diversified International, Godsglory Foundation and Signatures & Silhouette.
On September 15th 2021, the BTY team visited the Makoko riverine area, embarking on a Canoe ride to access the only school on the water in Ago Egun Community, Hope For The Slum Floating School, Makoko, Lagos state, where we provided learning packs to 38 children schooling in the school.
Amos, a ten-year-old school student, was filled with excitement as he received his learning pack containing a bag, books, pen and pencil.
Mr Kehinde (Co-Founder, Hope For The Slum Floating School) appreciated the team effort and presented a certificate of appreciation to our Founder, Obasanjo Fajemirokun.
The BTY team also provided learning packs to Peaceful Star Royal Academy students, Iyana Iyesi, Ota, Ogun state. This low-cost private school at Iyana, Iyesi, gives children access to quality education in the interior part of Ota, Ogun state, bedevilled with bad roads as students have to work miles to access the school.
26 students of Peaceful Star Royal Academy received a bag, books, pen, and pencils to support their access to quality education.
Thank you very much, we are grateful, we pray that where it comes from it will not dry in Jesus Name. You don’t know how grateful I am, and my God will reward you all. I am very grateful. Thank you, Brace-Up The Young.
